Picked up a 98 XL1200 with a suspected blown cylinder for $800. Thought I could just tear down the top end and send the cylinders out for a fresh bore and honing and put in a new set of Pro X pistions and be set for the rest of the conversion.
Well I'll just let ya see what I saw when I got the rest of the motor torn down....
So.... what's gonna be my least expensive way out of this. I'm gonna ask the machine shop that's gonna do my bore and hone if they think they can do anything with the cases.
Will SBT sell a matched set of cases and a crank alone and not as a whole package the way they typically do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
