Blaster engine choice

Hi guys!

I'm starting a new build on a Waveblaster, for surf and freeride, and I'm trying to make the right choice for the engine. I have a Dasa 1055cc, that was going to go in the Blaster, but I just found a Rickter XFS hull, so the 1055 will go in the Rickter.

I am hesitating between the Dasa 850 SS and the 1000 (89 bore /+10 rocker).

We only ride reef waves, here in Tahiti, so I need reliability, and something quick enough to get me out of trouble when needed. I do have a factory pipe, that could go on the 850, and cost me less money, but I see a lot of people going for the 1000cc in freeride.

What do you think ?

Thanks!

Look into a TPE 964, with Duel 46
And B pipe/ Blaster Mod chamber
Feel free to contact me directly for a package deal

Thanks Paul, I will send you an email also :) .
This is definitely an engine that I have considered buying, but when looking around on the internet, it turned to be 1500$ more expensive than a 950SS from Blowsion. That is just why I was mostly going for a Dasa, but I'll send you an email to have a quote on a package deal, when I'm ready to order :)
I do have the dual 46, and the Blaster Mod Chamber

Thanks!

Anyone has tried a 850SS, or a 950/1000 stroker in a blaster hull, in surf ? Wich would be more reliable ? Will the 850SS rev fast enough for big ocean reef break waves ?

What fuel are you using and how long are you going to be at full throttle? Larger bores need higher octane, especially over long full power periods.

After contacting a few engine builders, I've narrowed the search to the TPE964 (great engine overall), the DASA 850/950 SS (for the price), or the DASA 950 stroker (same bottom as my 1055, already has some parts for it). Still can't decide which would be the best choice for the blaster.. What do you think ?

Which “good fuel” option is best for “bad fuel”, is that the question? I doubt that they are going to send you a top end with very low compression.

my 1055 with 46cc domes works pretty well with our fuel. I'm not looking for a high compression motor, I'm looking for something reliable, and snappy enough for reef break waves, with very short distance to accelerate, and that can push the weight of a stock blaster hull (and a 220lbs big kahuna model pilot.. hahahahaha)

Most of the power is coming from the pipe rather than the engine once the ports are high. Just be sure about your fuel and tell the engine builder exactly how you ride. If he cares he may even listen to you.

thanks!

I've also sent an email to PHP. Have you ever tried this engine ? might be interested in the 937cc 4mil stroker
