Blaster help

Sorry if this may be a little long, want to get all info in.

701 blaster, brand new rebuilt engine. Rebuilt dual 44 carbs (120/140, 2.0 NS), blaster mod pipe, ada head 35cc. All stock electronics that were ran all year on my 760 engine in same hull.

Engine would not rev up. Thought maybe temp sensor f'd up in CDI. Bought new 6m6 stator, new airieltek cdi with rev adjustment. Turned rev adjustment half way. SKi will still not rev all the way. Took it to water, 4600 rpm +/-.

Took plugs out, rear plug wet and clean like new like it wasnt firing. Took head off, piston is dry. Carb is getting fuel, spark is very strong, compression is great. Took carbs off to see if maybe i messed up a gasket. WIll assemble tomorrow and check popoff again. I want to believe its just the carb or fuel issue, but i think theres something going on electrical wise.

I hate it when carb issues seem like electrical gremlins and electrical gremlins seem like carb issues......
I had a pin hole in a fuel line 1X..... it ghosted me for 3 carb tear downs.....

You have a 62t bottom end, 62t flywheel. You need a 62t stator, 6m6/61x has different static ignition timing. Also, dual 44s at 120/140/2.0 sounds like a lot of fuel for a relatively mild build.

So little update,

Found the 95? gram springs had like 30+ psi popoff. I put in the small springs and got it down to 24. Ran better, but far from perfect. Put in 95 low and 137.5 main. Ran better, but still far from perfect. Finally found some decent jetting specs. Ordered the jets and will see if we have anymore warm weather when they get here.

The 6m6 stator looked exactly like the stator i had in the ski. Now that i know the problem is fuel and not electrical, should i swap the original stator back in?

How can you tell the difference btween a 62T and 6m6 stator?

poop. I didn’t not know this. this could be an issue for me on my fx1. Pretty sure I have my 61x stator on my 62t cases

I just set up a Blaster 1 a couple of months ago that runs like a raped ape. He has almost all of what you have other than no 760 electrics because they are 64x, he runs an enhancer which is only meant for 61x/62t electrics. The other differences I see is your jetting is way too rich on a 701 if you are looking for freeride specs. The dual stock 44's I have setup on his ski is 125 pilots, 115 mains, 2.3 n&s, popoff at 15 psi, low screws out 1 turn, high screws 1-1/4 to start and adjust from there. The 44's I have found so far to be the easiest carbs to dial in yet, and they perform very well on a B-piped 701. Hope this helps, when you get those 44's set up really well, you will love how that ski performs.

You can run any of the stators on the 62T cases. You can run the 61X and 6M6 stators and flywheels between the two. You can only run the 62T stator with a 62T flywheel.

I just bought 2x kits from watcon. Ill see what he sends me. Appreciate your info.

So Watcon sent me 115/125/2.0

Installed, and ski still breaks up at WOT. SPark tester shows great spark, untill WOT than light starts flickering. Ive got a new coil on the way.

Well i got the issue fixed...What fixed it? No idea, i did a bunch of stuff.

Removed engine, tore it down, looked it over and replaced all gaskets. Installed new carbon tech reed pedals. Threw in a brand new coil, MSD enhancer, and swapped stock stator back in. She sounds amazing now. Water test this sunday.
