Apparantly my 07 SJ has a new spring on it? Except even though I haven't seen a stock one the pole rests on the hood as if its not doing anything? I read the other blogs re these springs and bad production runs etc. What can I do to give it some more 'wood'! I'd rather not buy another new one.

take the stock foam out and buy a blue camping mat from walmart. it will not absorb water and is very light weight. take off stock foam. glue part of the pad down and sand it to shape. the have vinyl put back on. i bet that saved 2lbs from my handlepole weight and my blowsion spring worked great. i left the pole up too so that it wouldnt settle the spring.

I actually put my Blowsion spring in a vice and inserted a pipe over the end. Then I gave it some more "bend", in the right direction. Works like a charm now! It became a bit more annoying to install, though....
I am not running stock pole pad either!

I've never had a problem with stock pads :dunno:

I got a wamiltons spring for a roundnose. $25 shipped or in daytona.

Yep the stock pad is a tank, mine was waterlogged after 3 months of riding and sitting for 3 months of winter. I just slapped some turf on the plastic and saved a few pounds.

I broke one doing this w/o heating it up first. Second one I heated with a torch and bent very easily.

Ok great - I think I'll try heating the srping up and bending it? Doesnt seem right that I should have to? As for the pad - The ski only has 10hrs on it so I don't think its water logged yet but I'll keep and eye out for that issue too.

Put the small end of the spring in vise and pipe on longer one? Then heat and pry?
