SX/SXi/SXi Pro Bottom end hesitation.

My brother in law has a 96 SXI, he added the factory pipe wet pipe (I dont know the model #), and a K&N. He put the bottom end jets in that came with the pipe, and were recomended. Ever since, the ski has a real bad hesitation on the bottom end. He is pretty mechanincly inclined, but this has got him stumped. Any ideas, or is it time to take it to a shop??

I have always heard that the SXi needed a lower pop off pressure along with richer jetting to get rid of the lean condition in the low end. Drop the pop and see what happens.

Funny I leaned my lowspeeds on my 96 to 77 I beleive. Made it crisper. I suppose it depends where you ride. I was never really satisfied with that pipe on my SXI untill I added ECWI. It's much , much better then.

That's exactly what it sounds like. The stock pop-off is pretty high to compensate for the stock F/A. Drop the pop-off and take it for a ride. IIRC FPP even recommends cutting the stock spring to lower pop-off (maybe that was for the '95's)

For giggles, have him put the factory air box back on instead of the K&N. My SXIPro was very finicky when it came to changing the air filter. Even if I just removed the rubber silencers from the stock box, it gave it a dead spot on the bottom end.
