Brainstorming water evacuation

There has to be a better design for scuppers out there that doesn't leak and is more durable. What about something like this that is slightly recessed into the hull so it can't be ripped off? The hinge for the scupper looks Far superior in terms of durability. I bet someone with some CAD/engineering background would be able to come up with a suitable lighter weight version that would be acceptable for our use. The design is obviously more expensive, but it's cheaper than a sunk ski from a failed scupper. Thoughts/ideas?

Who makes a scupper like that? I'm not impressed with the standard xscream scuppers and the rest of the scuppers on the market like the xscream.

I have 2 XScream scuppers and they don't leak. My boat can sit in the water for hours and not have any water in it.

Mcdog used the recessed epic scupper on his circus. Looked like it worked well. I used the xmetal scuppers and just check them periodically for wear/leaking. I've had them tear loose and be "F'd"...luckily I stick close to shore.

When new scuppers don't leak much if at all. Once they get a little age on them they start leaking a little. It's a maintenance item, when the rubber flap gets worn it needs to be replaced. But there is no quicker way to get water out of a hull. I never bothered to put bilge pumps in my last few skis.

Well, that hinge on the picture of the scupper obviously isn't going to tear off like a rubber hinge will. Also, the flap mating surface isn't vertical so I think it would seal better. The question is will the water in the hull have enough force to open the flap? I suppose that's where the R&D comes in.

I just downloaded Onshape. I'm going to mess with it and see if I can't come up with a better solution than the hull sinkers that are already out there. Anybody have some access to some cheap CNC time? Haha

XFT had recessed scuppers over 10 years ago. People where putting internal one way valves in a long time ago, not sure why that trend went away, I've had one in over half of the hulls I have owned with zero issues plus they are spring loaded so they seal very well.

I think the thing with the one way valves was when they break you have to cut your tray open to get to it to replace it. Anything you can do that works and you can get for maintenance makes more sense
