nobody can answer that from behind their keyboard. when you go back together leave the rubber dampner out and get a small flat edge tool like a ruler or something. slide the motor in all the way to the back and check that you have even spacing vertically. then use your flat tool and check all around the coupler that they are flat across the fingers to each other. this will tell you where you need to move the motor. might not be a bad idea to check your driveshaft isnt bent also?

You have a tight wear ring? I have only ever seen this once. Wear ring was swollen and it shredded the threads at the midshaft coupler. Both the coupler and the shaft. Prop had seized up tight in the wear right and the weakest link is the parts I listed that broke.

Make certain the correct washer is behind the mid shaft coupler and that the coupler and washer are fully seated on the shoulder of the midshaft

the midshaft cannot be bottomed out in the coupler, which is what happens if you leave the washer off

It was an old Squarenose I bought for a buddy. Of course the one part I didn't go over(the pump) gave him trouble.

Sat at the boat ramp idling with no driveshaft spinning.

He knows all about breaking stuff lol. To this date I have never seen anyone break the bottom of there ski. A guess 30+ rolls and flips in a day will do it.

And also I have seen this on another ski. We were told the guy broke his mounts and it caused the engine to shift and snap the coupler
