Bulletproof Electrical Box

Here are some pics of my electrical box (Superjet) that I had the external battery connections put onto. I also have the waterproof bullet style quick-disconnects for the stator connection. John (Jet Ski Solutions) also redid my coil. His work is quite clean.

The backing of the box had some corrosion, so to avoid it getting any worse I had it ceramic coated.

I am setting up an extra box like this to be able to quickly swap it out if I have electrical problems.

let us know how those bullet connectors work on the outside of the box. how did you seal the box with all the little wires running through the grommet?

The only new extruding things are the battery/starter connection studs. The other wires to the stator were always there, but now they just have the connectors instead of running all the way to the stator. I've used the bullet connectors already to hook up my bilge pump and it has lasted years in salt. Put a little dielectric grease on the contacts before connecting them for added security.

Who did you use to ceramic coat the back?
Where did you get the quick disconnects?

This particular ceramic coating was done by A-1 Ceramacoat, 8596 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, FL (suburb of Clearwater) (727) 399-9667. I've also used Jet-Hot and Performance Coatings. All three are good. I liked A-1 because they are pretty close to my place in Florida and don't mind doing smaller lots. He is currently doing my B manifolds and chambers. I'll post pics when they are done.

Got the quick disconnects from John at Jet Ski Solutions (www.jetskisolutions.com).

ive been hearing more and more that jet ski solutions does good work. the only bad thing that ive heard from them is theri hood seal, but all their other stuff seems to be really nice.

John (JSS) does excellent work. It turns out that he is an expert applied Electrical Engineer (from what I gathered on a 45 minute phone call just tossing around ideas and stuff). I was reluctant to pay to have someone to do what I think I can do, but requires me to have a lot of patience. I am thoroughly impressed though at his quality of work and products. I got the Tuff-Thrust washers for the UMI steering to eliminate the greasy mess from the UMI thrust bearings.

He has coil-winding machines to do your stator coils better than OEM too.

I got the hood seal too, but cannot tell how good it is until I get my hood hook backing plates and mount the hood.

really nice man....butti is running one of those external batt connections too......eventually the cable ends will rust out and need to be replaced, but no big deal...

the spare elec box is a great idea...the past couple major freerides Ive socked a complete box away for that exact reason....but Im diggin' the quick disconnex on the stator wires....

something else you can use to coat the backing is zinc paint...its that green paint that some OEM parts are coated in.......just redid the alum base of my h-pole using that as a primer and it SHOULD work great!!!

Yeah, on the cables, I wouldn't expect them to corrode any faster than the lower starter connection, right? John mentioned trashing the boots that cover these connections on OEM because they retain moisture. A little dielectric grease and tight connections should help maximize the lifespan of the connectors. He also makes pretty slick cables (picture).

The spare electrical box w/ the quick disconnects is a good idea. Swap out the box if you start having ignition issues, if that does not solve it, it must be the stator.
Turned out looking great.
