Buy Wiseco pistons individually or as "matched" pairs?

IIRC, forged Wiseco's are very close to each other in weight and size right out of the box. Anybody sweat that and always buy the whole kit (pair of pistons, rings, clips, gaskets, etc.) just to get a "matched" pair of pistons?

If you buy the Wiseco Piston Kit, it will come with matching serial numbers on the top and should be within two grams on each piston. If you purchase the pistons buy themselves, I can guarantee the numbers will not match and the weights will not be the same either. I had to send a set back because of this problem. The piston pins can also be off by a few grams. It’s a good practice, during engine building, to weigh the pistons with the pins and keep them together. Proper reciprocating weight means less strain on the rods and crankshaft.

I bought a digital pocket scale on eBay for 15.95 plus shipping. It goes up to 500 grams with an accuracy of 0.1 grams, with operating modes of grams, grains, carats and ounces.

The two individual pistons came from Riva; they don’t sell the piston kits so I returned them for a refund. They had miss-matched serial numbers, different weights, and the tops didn’t look the same at the edges.

I assume that Weisco doesn't make pistons as matched pairs, but you probably want a pair that was made around the same time.
Yep,

The Wiseco Piston Kits with the gaskets have the matching serial numbers and they are within two grams.
