Camp Sites Appear Sold out - BUT WAIT!

I just checked the website for campsites on the beach at Oceano State Rec. Vehicle park....it appears they are sold out - BUT DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU from coming down for the ride!!!!!!!

The easy work-around for this situation is this:

If you arrive during daylight hours, you simply tell them you're there for "Day Use" only.....pay your fee, and go on your merry way...just avoid taking your vehicle off the beach until the next day - at which point you simply tell them you got stuck and HAD to spend the night....if they even check.

If you arrive before say 9:00 pm., you can say you're coming in to drop something off or visit - not staying overnight (we're SUCH liars!) Then see above for follow-up....

If you arrive very late (like midnight or later) park your rig in the WalMart parking lot off Oak Avenue Parkway and HWY-101, get some sleep and come to the beach the next day.....use excuse #1 ;)

Hope this helps,
LP

And did we mention the TONS of people on the beach?????

An average weekend attendance/traffic on this 6 mile stretch of beach this time of year is 45,000.....over Labor Day weekend they shattered this record at 102,000....add the 1,100 competitiors in the enduro alone, plus our crew - well, let's just say you Attention Whore Freeriders should be in hog heaven ;)

Probably the only negative I can think of about this beach is traffic is sometimes like the 405....you gotta stop it so you can run your ski on a cart across to the water from your camp site.......but seriously, I think you guys are going to love it.

Not to be a bubble burster but just a fact.. Its a risk camping without a permit.. when we were there last time we chose to stay in a motel because the sites were booked up (lots of sites were empty) they dont do a head count to see if the people that reserved the spots show up or not.... the reason we didn't risk it is.. a $285.00 fine if they see your car without a overnight pass thingy.. the park rangers were driving, looking at sunrise.. on our last ride we know of one guy that got busted..

Not to be a bubble burster...........???

Whatever. I really hope you enjoy mexico. Now please leave our folks alone. They're fine. I'm not going to argue with you about this.

Thanks,
LP

Thats a bad idea, the rangers go around at night and check especially big groups and since there is the offroad race that weekend there will be plenty of rangers, Im not saying dont do it but you can get a pretty nice hotel for alot less than $285

Thank you organicgun.

Lisa.. so I'm a tool...bite me.
It's a known fact that I don't like you..you don't like me...bfd. After listening to you talk to Mike at the Hydro Turf booth in Havasu I decided not to introduce myself because I couldn't see anything positive of knowing that I met you.
After all these posts about Pismo, I've only posted once before this. You chewed me out there, too. Apparently, there is a Lisa way and a wrong way. I'm sorry you think if breaking the law and lying is a "Lisa way". I will choose the wrong way then. You feel it should be a "secret" on not letting "your folks" know of the fine involved in doing it Lisa's way. I say if you are going to tell them to do things "your way" then you should pay their fines if any of "your folks" are involved with breaking the law or get caught. And last time I checked, they were jet ski-ing folks and no one picked sides and certanly no "our folks"... A $300.00 fine for the night would hamper anyones "for the sport" attitude...

Thank you very much,
2 more camp sites just opened up for "your folks"

Butch,

So you finally figured out how boring and lame we all find you and your know-it-all, "I'm better than everyone, you MUST listen to me because I AM NIKAD" attitude? Wow - you're one sharp cookie pal.

Well, if I sound like a bitch here, (which I do - and yes, it was intentional) it's only because I'd had enough of you hopping on any post I make here on on other sites and throwing your snotty two cents in - generally because you simply cannot stand the fact that so many didn't support you lame attempt to "Save the world" south of the border. The rest of the info in this thread has nothing to do with my distain for a poser like you.

Your consistently ********ty, negative attitude is old. Though I know this is a public beach, and you can go whereever you want, do us both a favor and stay the hell away from me. If you come into my camp you will be escorted out immediately. And while you're at it... lose my number and stop calling and acting like you're my best buddy you insincere POS.

Now...back to the event...

I posted ALL over your posts ? negative attitude ? POS ? hummmm

Drop the rock and step away from the pipe.. Please go back to only drinking alcohol.. Negative is setting up your friends for a ticket without telling them.... You're such a class act !

NOW back to the event...

i dont see what the problem is, butch. if you see that youre about to get a fine, just get a gun and shoot the officer.

just dont tell ANY folks.

Definitely NOT taking sides here . . .but . . . we had the exact same thing happen to someone in our group couple of years back when she didn't want to take her car back off the beach. She got away with it the first night but got nailed the second . . . . .

Fine was $245.00 at that time . . . . they came in real early and the ticket was on the vehicle when we got up.

Here's the safe way around it . . . . get a day pass, drive on, setup camp with someone you know or close to another camp then park your vehicle off the beach on a side street somewhere or in the parking lot at the Grand Avenue ramp.

Have someone with an overnight permit drive you back to camp or hitch a ride back from someone passing by.

They don't count bodies, the number of tents or ORV's. . . they are only looking for "street" vehicles without overnight passes.

Some people were taking an assortment of colored Sharpie markers and modifying there day passes to look like overnight passes by copying "legit" ones. I think they may have caught on to that by now . . . . . . . I don't even want to think about what the fine would be for that !

Don't let any of this stuff scare you off from coming though ! There's always a way around the system . . . . it just may be a little inconvenient.

Lisa, is there going to be a central "Compound" or "main camp" for all the watercraft people ?

It'd be nice to know that the people that aren't staying on the beach could leave their ski's on the beach with the knowledge that they were "more or less" being watched out for overnight.

Because I'm breathing, I guess...lol..
I thought we buried the hatchet awhile ago (the 1st of the only 2 times I talked to her on the phone) and posted it..
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I really didn't think there was anything bad or negative about posting what the fines would be. I truly don't think you will find anyone who would think that was a bad or negative post, only informative.

She started it up again on one post before this, and it wasn't even "her" thread.. Funny how out of 20 people that are mad about a topic (riders list) ...after one post from me she goes off. If she is going to let loose on me, then she should stick to the facts, not what's beating around in her little paranoid mind that makes her lie to save face. For some reason she thinks I'm mad or somthing about mexico. I was just trying to get some guys together to go for a ride - with some kind of notice... She turned it into a war and won't let it die. :bs2:

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

To answer your question Crockett, Chad Canepa has been kind enough to go down on TUESDAY, camp out way early to hold our spot, and drive stakes/run caution tape for a large area (about the size of a football field+) with direction from the WORXX guys who have a permit for that entire section of the beach (they have been kind enough to share specially permitted beach space and support our event).

If you guys could be very careful NOT TO PULL INTO THE CENTER of this site - try to leave a 100" circular section in the middle so we can set up a big bonfire and central cooking area - that would be great. Park arund the paramenter in layers please. Last year Joe bombed onto the soft sand right in the middle of the site and got stuck - which then effectivly cut the camp site and social flow right in half and really kinda screwed with the whole vibe of the get together. That's all I ask - a tiny bit of structure to make it an enjoyable site for all.

So I'd head south to just before the 4 mile marker and look for Chad's toy hauler. He's got a Kawasaki 15F and some quads/dirt bikes. I'll try to get him the flags on his way down the hill from Reno so he can fly those for you guys - worse case scenario, I'll start flying them Friday at 6:00 a.m. (Marine Corp, Air Force flags as I thought they were appropriate).

Evan Kilkus is bringing his big race rig and PA system again and.....drum roll....we'll be screening "All My Crazy Firends - Live fast, Die Fat" Saturday night - and there's a very good possibility we'll also be have the official first screening of Riot Radio's "Bring The Pain" (Warning for those thin skinned riders - this is the ADULT "R" VERSION).

Hope this info helps.
