Super Jet Can a flow control valve cause poor running / overheating?

I freshened up my ski, and as part of that installed a flow control valve. It is the only thing I actually changed, apart from the prop to a 9-15 hooker. I did strip the engine, but just to change the crank seaks.

Now after running for 15 or so mins it feels like it is overheating, and the water coming out of the pisser is hot (I get a reasonable stream). Could the flow control valve cause this? Otherwise where else should I look? I have tried pressuring the engine, pipe etc (to check its all sealing) and it seems ok...

Its a 701, b pipe, flow control valve, epic ignition, ADA head.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Andrew

Look for a partial clog at the bottom fitting on the headpipe or exhaust manifold fittings, blow thru all lines. I have seen sand collect and harden in there.
