Super Jet can anyone tell me what this is?

I just got a sn hull with a few parts and I have never seen one of these before. It is midway thru where the long exhaust hose is. It has a water inlet aswell.

i believe its a resonator. like a silencer. i run a sn with NO waterbox. but you guys on the x are jetski-snobs. so now i feel bad when i hit the brap cause its so loud!!!
