Can i put oil in flywheel case to lube bendix?

I have a 950 dasa with TL.
Is it ok to put 50 to 100ml of light fork oil in the flywheel case to lube eveything?
We have been doing this for years in ktm 2 strokes with great success.
Just wondering if it will effect timing or anything.
I have found a small sealed can am diff breather bellows which can be used as a breather.
Thanks.

I have never heard of anyone doing that. I would be worried it would mess with the TL pickup. Should be fine with a little grease on each end of the bendix.

I wouldn't but that's just my opinion. If the bendix is in good shape and has a few dabs of grease, it shouldn't need anymore lube than that. As long as your flywheel cover and starter don't let any water or moisture in, the bendix will never need more lube than what's already on it.

i'm pretty sure , once upon a time, I read in a kawi manual that WD40 was to be sprayed in the vent cap hole to lube whats inside..
I've pulled apart a bunch of beater skis that had the flywheel covered filled with oil. I think it makes stators fail.
on my surf ski, i use a yami sitdown cover with the blockoff plate and when i'm done riding, i remove the plate until my next ride , incase any moisture is in there and it makes for easy lubing..

I thought of doing this myself seening as this is the case for many other 2-stroke Mag components. Couple things I would not be sure of:

Pros:
1. Possibly eliminate front engine seal leaking issues from ever happening
2. Bendix would pretty much stay lubed up possibly aiding in it's longevity.
3. Reduce/eliminate corrosion

Cons:
1. The coils on 701 are insulated with some special tape. I don't think it would be an issue but might react with lubricants.
2. Flywheel ring gear is a failure point for many 701 based flywheels. Lubrication may provide a means to have the ring gear start to slip early
3. No way to cleanly change the oil without removing the front cover which would make a mess. All other machines which run wet on the engine's mag side have an oil drain and filter
4. If your cases are epoxied; I'd be careful what you put in the front cover. Wouldn't want to ruin the epoxy with something harsh
5. No performance gain what-so-ever

That being said, I've often found the bendix and pinion grease sprung all over the inside front cover.

Looks like majority rules.
Ive got some lanolin spray which sticks like poop to a blanket which i'll spray on the bendix and grease the rest.
We've been doing the slavens wet mod on our ktm 2 strokes for years and nothing bad has happened.
It works a treat on the older style bendix setups which are known for early failures.
Wont risk it in the ski though.
Cheers guys.
