Can This tow two stand ups?

its a 4 cyl 1996 chevy beretta. My dad is telling me it can since it's got a 1500 lbs capacity.

I'd have to go about 200 miles with the two stand ups and the trailer and i'm guessing that it would be around 800 lbs.

Uhaul sells a hitch that costs 150$ to install and we've got the hitch.

This is the actual car in front of my neighbors house.

i have a question for you. why would there be a problem towing 800lbs if it can pull 1500lbs?

you dont need a big pickup truck to pull a standup or two. unless you want to go offroad.

2 standups wont cause that much drag to.

last season i towed my blaster all over with a 90 accord without any problems....this year im towing with a 85 toyota cressida. you really just need to make sure the tongue wieght is low. if you can pick up the ball end of your trailer with the skis on it with one hand you'll be fine, just adjust the skis toward the rear to take weight off the tongue.

Agreed. Seems like a weird question to me.

Everyone seems to get really hung up thinking they need big 4x4s to tow stuff. It'll be fine, just drive within the limits of the car.

i pull my SJ with a beg box of gear with the Hyundai Tiburon in my avitar and its a smaller lighter car than that. i dont think it has a towing capacity. it goes just fine. Blaster800 on here tows one of his blasters with an older toyota camry i think.

I tow two ski's with a 4 cylinder... no problem.

However, if it's an automatic trans, and has a button/switch to turn of the overdrive, you may need to turn off the OD. If it keeps downshifting/and upshifting on the highway your trans could suffer. The only way to know is to drive it.

With a manual trans, the clutch can burn up if the load is too much for 5th gear (OD)

A friend of mine and I used to tow our jetskis on a modified boat trailer with a Ford Escort. Never even knew the ski was there. The trailer was pretty heavy as is was for a 12' boat.

Definately keep some tongue weight though. If the trailer is too balanced, or has more weight on the rear it will be a squirley whippin bitc#. Basically unsafe. As long as you have to lift the tongue on and off the hitch you should be ok.

i towed two blasters with a 4 cyl car for about a year. worked just fine. only had a couple problems geting off very steep and wet ramps. my front tires would just spin and do a burn out. I would have to get a couple people to stand on the front bumper and jump up and down so I could get traction. You should have not prob.

You will be fine TOWING. You need to pay attention at STOPPING.
Just make sure you understand braking distance, and "get a feel" of the car when when applying the brakes and how it responds.

Check your local U-haul for the actual hitch when you do go to buy, They beat everyone's price when I was looking for a hitch for the wife's Honda CRV and they had it in stock.
