Can you fully seal off a hood when running breather pipes in a RRP pole?

Im sure this has been covered before but i couldnt find anything on it....

If you use a RRP pole or similar with the 2 breather tubes that go up into the pole......can you fully seal off all the air holes in your hood???

i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say no, especially if you have a large CC motor
i know on her SXR i used the blowsion cover on the hood, drilled the rear, and it was starved for air at higher rpms
put the 3dr hood on, and no problems

if you try it, just keep an eye out on it, as you will probably have less air flow for the motor, which could offset your tune (again more probable under load at rpms)

just some feedback from what i experienced...

on a side a have the 247 hood on my SJ with stock handlepole. i have one breather setup on my hood, and i have no problems. Chris at the time was concerned that the motor would die for more air

from what I heard and seen at WF, some pro with Rickter hulls only ran with only the handlepole breather hoses and running 1100cc

I gonna run my new boat with just that and do a test to see.

I sealed my hood up and just ran with the two tubes from my RRP. It ran fine.

If that's the cases, it may be time to come up with a new super low hood design
that doesn't have to take in consideration air flow.

can someone post a good picture of the top piece of a RRP pole without the chin pad on. I'd like to see the opening where the air would flow.

This would be a good question for your engine builder.. I would think if you do hard straight runs you ski could suffer. short blurps of power as long as there is enough volume of air it's fine . regular surf, weekends tend to hold there skis open more.. Freestylers just use large amounts of air quickly.

my concern would be to someone who likes to hang the throttle open on runs, that is where not having enough air under load can come into play
i also like your thinking about a lowered hood without worrying about water injestion
i personally don't run WOT so perhaps the limited flow wont be an issue
some great ways to think and come up with new things, just something to keep an eye out, because not having the air flow could also make someone think they have other issues, like carb/fuel delievery. i know i did when we first got her ski going.

on another side note... i did run a stock hood on my SJ with the blowsion baffel and no other work and never had an air intake issue. actually that was the best hood setup for no water injestion i ever had. sucker was heavy and kept smacking the pole on it when jumping, so got nervous and went with the lower hood
