300/440/550 carb adjustment 550 sx help!!!

hey guys i just rebuilt my carb on my 550 sx and i have the stock settings from the book to adjust it too. i had it turning on in the beginning and it would bog down. i have the high speed adjustment and the low speed but i dont have the idle adjustment screw setting. i also have a k&n air filter and i know i will need more fuel on the low speed jet. can anyone help me out with getting this thing adjusted?? a book for a stock motor only helps so much sadly. thanks guys!!!!

It doesn't sound like your completely sure on exactly what you have which will determine how you adjust and what you will need to change on this carb. What year is the ski? If it is a 90' or earlier, it is a piston port engine, black in color and depending on which year, will have either a Mikuni bn38 or Mikuni bn44 carb, both of which are considered "round bodies." If the ski is a 91' - 95', the engine is a reed setup, silver in color and will have a Kehin 38 carb from the factory. The round body carbs do not have jets so your only adjustments are the mixture screws and idle unless you start getting into internal modifications which I won't go into. The Kehin 38 however does have jets and can be changed out if your engine is modded enough to need it.
Why did you rebuild the carb in the first place? What rebuild kit did you use?
