Freestyle Carb Guru's.. What did I screw up?

Hey there fellas! Well, I completely rebuilt a pair of Mikuni 38's for my buddies SJ. Everything went smooth, other than that paper center'd gasket as usual. Anyways....

The primary carb with the full pump, I didn't completely blow out all the ports. So I know I screwed up there and hopefully I just need to tear it down again and blow that out.

The problem is that the the carbs are getting fuel, and the fuel is coming out the return line just fine. But no fuel is actually getting out of the carbs and into the throats to actually get the engine going.

So... Any thoughts on where I messed up, or missed something? The check valves are in correctly.

Thanks for helping out my lame arse again!

Check to see if your diaphragms are installed the right way. I installed them backwards with the little knob pointing out instead of in (total noob move I know) but it caused the same symptoms as you.

After checking that, I would check for stuck needle seats and take out the jets and make sure there is nothing gummed up in them.

I had this recently where it wouldn't draw fuel. New intake gaskets AND check spark. my coil showed a weak spark so I swapped it. The coil could have been bad since install BC it was new build with old parts.

Just saying it might not be carbs.

Got it figured out. Disassembled the carbs, flushed and blew them out. Then put them back together. So when I go re re install them I notice some weird looking indents in the carb gasket. I lift off the gasket and there are flat washers under the gasket on the studs...

Assumption, got the best of me. I "assumed" there wasn't anything under the new gasket.

Lesson learned. Ski feels and sounds good. Water testing and tuning it for my buddy Saturday.

Thanks for all the words of wisdom guys!
