300/440/550 carb troubles

I have a 88 550 that has a mikuni 44mm carb. The ski wont start cuz it is getting floded with way to much gas. And its like a volcano shooting out of the carb from the butterflie. What the hell is the deal.??

the needle and seat is likley leaking. if you want to check it get or build a popoff pressure gauge. most of the old carbs that i have checked that that have been sitting around for 20 years or more wont hold any popoff pressure.

if you want your 550 to run right the best thing to do is put a mikuni carb kit and new mikuni needle and seat in it. DON'T GET A OFF BRAND KIT! the springs in these are never right and the popoff is always why off.
