Carnage to yourself, what have you walked away from?

So since the season is pretty well over with up here I thought I would see what the crash report is for this year. Or if you have a good "walked away from" story post it up.

I have 3 good ones, first was back around 2001. I was out on a ride with my old 650SX, and the guy that was with me was on a 99 ZXi 1100. Before we were given a wake to keep jumping we were out ripping it up through the bays when the guy with me tried to spray me. He didn't realize he was going to slide as much as he did and almost tagged my right side rail. I told him we need to keep our distance, I don't want a trashed ski. While jumping the wake he stuck to me and was in the air right behind me. I had no idea until I heard his exhaust in my face while I was under water. He landed on my head driving me under and ripping a gash above my right ear requiring 6 stitches. That ended that trip for the weekend. Fortunately I was able to climb back on my ski thinking I took a spill and was blasted in the face by my own exhaust lol. After realizing I was hit I headed to shore where a nurse just happened to be walking on the beach and took me back to her place for preparation to get to the hospital.

Second...just a few years ago I was out falling trees at my campground. We just finished cutting a massive Oak tree but didn't realize a branch of about 10 inches in diameter was blown off of the tree and hung up in the trees on the opposite side of the trail. I was pushing on the tree to help direct its fall when the branch pulled free and fell across my head, luckily it didn't hit the smarty on my hat or that would have really sucked lol. To add to the weight, the branch was still green and full of spring rain.

And finally, I posted at the end of August an auto accident I was in. The guy in the oncoming lane passed out at the wheel and carved into the driver's side of my company truck. The impact sent the truck straight up in the air and started to barrel roll as it was on route to the ditch. Although both doors were trashed and would not open I still was able to climb out Dukes of Hazzard style. Aside from some residual minor back pains still, I was able to walk away from that one as well.

What kind of adventure stories do you guys have?

My worst was probably a nose stab on my SXi that I bailed years ago (probably 1997/8) mid-air. The ski landed and rolled to the left so the right side was what I landed on, squarely on my left hip. I was certain I broke my pelvis, but somehow didn't.

I ended up with a bruise about a foot long the shape of the bond rail bumper and to this day that area is still a little puffy compared to the rest.

Ski lawn darted me in the face, broken nose stitches in head and out my nose. Both eyes were blackened. I duct taped the skin on my forehead closed washed and loaded ski and drove to the emergency room. Good times!

Went riding the following day with water proof bandages.

Broke my finger doing backflips at surf slam this year. Taped it up, and continued flipping and rolling, including a no-hander backie. :haha:

I was wake jumping this summer off my buddy's Mastercraft X2 with 5 people in it and tanks filled on one side. It was putting out a pretty good sized wake. Well the ski started to roll on my and I dont have holds or anything so I bailed and in the process landed on the hood/rail, the pole slammed down on my leg as I went filpping on by.

I ended up with a pretty good sized bruise.

Had knee surgery back in 1990 due to a "stupid" self carnage incident.
I was wide open on my js550. It was very windy/choppy. Started to lose it. Probably could have kept it together but I did one of those "leap off the side" bails. The water was less than 6 inches deep. Folded my knee backwards.

Oh, the stupid part..........I should have known by the birds that were "standing" there.

:haha: Great replies guys. The baby toe was a killer lol. I just remembered a little stupid non-ski move I did a few years back. I was working on an old 72 GMC Sierra pick-up trying to do a mild restoration. While working away on the paint bubbles I noticed one starting to form so I dug into it with the paint scraper. Turned out to be Bondo based. I was putting all the force I could into it to peel the Bondo off (insert stupid part here - I had the paint scraper pointing toward myself while forcing it through the Bondo) and then it let go.

The scraper, being in my right hand, came rocketing up blade first and dug in under my lower lip at the chin arch while the rest of the momentum sent my hand still in the form of a fist holding the stupid scraper up to my forehead which in turn ended up with me clocking myself a good one. I hit myself hard enough to knock me stupid for a few minutes (or if you know me well enough, I've never recovered from that part lol). When I collected my marbles, I realized I ripped my chin open so instead of going for stitches and having the zipper look on my face I filled the gash up with pine sap that I squeezed out of some small twigs off of the tree in our yard. To this day the scar is virtually invisible:woot:

Hmm, here's mine. Got hit by a small car, and walked away with a broken leg. Set it myself and went to the doctor 11 days later. He said I did a good job, and gave me crutches - no cast.

Also smashed my front teeth through my lower lip with my handlebars racing snowcross. Refused stitches at hospital and walked out.

Who needs doctors, anyway
