Changed pump shoe now pump will not align with bolt holes

I just replaced my pump shoe on my rn sj with a brand new blowsion shoe. I got it siliconed and screwed in nice and flush with the hull. I went to install the pump with a new seal but couldn't get the bolt holes lined up. I thought it may have been because of the new seal so I tried the old one and had the same issue. I tried putting the nose of the ski against a wall and pushing against the pump but couldn't get the alignment posts into the recessed holes in the hull. Do i need to grind the back portion of the pump shoe where the seal sits? If so, how do you grind it evenly enough to create an effective seal? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well that sucks! Ive only seen one other person have that problem and he ended up not using the pump seal but instead put a bead of silicone around the housing before installation. I personally would not be happy with that fit, and i wouldn't want to pay more to get it milled down...

I get my pump shoes from @JetManiac, I think they are Jet dynamic...?

Im curious if anyone else has had this problem, I thought my buddies was just a fluke thing.

Yea I was stuck between blowsion and jet dynamics but heard the non drilled blowsion was a more snug fit with less modifications required.
With me pushing on it as hard as possible I still need about 1/8 of an inch to get the pins aligned and the bolt in. It's really close but still too far. Is it possible to slide the engine mount forward and gain some extra clearance or is the mid shaft fixed and not able to move?

Try using a ratchet strap on the pump?

i personally wouldntt want to modify a pump to work with a pump shoe. That pump will forever but changed and will not be snug ina ski thats right. You cant shift anything forward. Its gonna stop against the pump shoe. Best option would be to either take material away from the ski so the pump shoe sits correctly or take material from the pump shoe.

I tried a big ratchet strap with some wood and tightened the hell out of it but still no good. I'll call blowsion and see if they've come across this issue before

Before you glued/screwed in the pump shoe, did you mock everything up including installing the pump when test fitting the shoe? or did you just did the shoe on there and hope it would all line up

What's the solution then? Even if I mocked it up and discovered it wouldn't fit would you grind it before mounting or get a different one?

1) Mock up
2) Grind and adjust
3) Repeat until pump installs properly, and can be properly aligned with the midshaft as well.
4) Glue in/screw in pump shoe.

When putting a 155 pump in my ski with an aluminum shoe and a new aftermarket seal I couldn't get anything to line up until I pulled the pins and drilled out the holes larger in the pump mounting tabs allowing everything to line up and I haven't had any issues. No matter what as soon as you start adding non oem parts to the mix nothing seems to fit just right anymore.

I never screw the shoe in until after the Plexus sets up. I only install the screws, with 5200, as a safety measure. the "draft" of the hull makes the shoe sit at an angle, the angle may be what is killing your fitment. The shoe should be up against the hull at the top, and have a slight gap at the bottom near the ride plate area. If you catch my drift. easy way to check it is use a cold fusion pump alignment tool, no pump seal and see if it matches up flush to the newly installed shoe.

Yea I noticed that when I put the shoe in it didn't exactly sit flush it kinda teetered top to bottom but I put the silicone in and tightened the screws until it felt flush and even. So what I should have done was let the top sit flush and the bottom sit off the hull slightly then fill in the gap with silicone?

A pump shoe isnt that complicated. You shouldn't have to test fit something so simple that hasn't changed dimensions in 2 decades.

poop castings, aftermarket hulls, aftermarket pumps, all these changes. Slide shoe in, slide pump in (without pump seal), shim to center, center shoe and make sure it touches pump wear ring (shim if needed), mark hull and glue shoe into place. It may have a snug fit with the pump seal, I like to use a large punch to slide into the pump bolt holes to push the pump forward. May be necessary to open up the mounting holes for the wear ring and the nozzle. Pretty straight forward process.
