Check out the how to build a 701 engine sticky in the tech section. It is pretty useful. I just did a motor make sure you have some blue loctite, three bond 1211, the cold fusion flywheel lock http://cold-fusion.pinnaclecart.com/tools/flywheel-lock-for-yamaha/ and a nice flywheel puller. Take your time don't force anything back together or apart

Print out a sheet with all the torque vAlues to have handy while building.

Take pictures as you are pulling everything apart...especially crank seals. So you know how it all goes back together. Make sure all your mating services are clean and free of debris If there are old gasket pieces scrap them clean. Get some molly lube and coat the crankshaft liberally. Make sure there is no debris in the cases or cylinders. Take your time assembling and don't force anything together. Torque in the proper sequence and to spec.

I buy gaskets from Jet Maniac and they seem to work fine. Not sure if they are oem or aftermarket.

x3^^ You would think that it is hard to screw that up, but its not. The Clymer manual basically tells you to install them backwards.

if you ever have to change crank seals during the season. don't tear your engine down just flip it upside down and pull the bed plates and bottom case, lift crank, change seals, and realign the bearings. put yamaha bond between the cases and retork. quick and easy.

I put three bond 1211 all the way around the 3 crank seal case groves just to insure you don't get an air leak.

Yea, thats a good trick. I did that last season, after I found out my crank seals were backwards. :slap:
