Chop shop time.

IMG_5586.JPG IMG_5585.JPG I know that I'm going to try to make light weight aluminum poles so I started with the hood. I wanted to make it more of a lower profile hood so I cut it down with my sharp hacksaw and stuff some foam in there. I've got to head to work tonight so no time to continue. Tomorrow if it doesn't storm in the great white north, I'll mix up some JB weld in my trusty timmies measuring cup and start to form the foam.

Sure, ill watch this poop show!

Just kidding man, i have no idea how to do what you're doing, but im interested to see hpw you do it

Definitely do the SN hood mod of pulling out the liner and making a new one. You'll save crazy amounts of weight and have less water intrusion.

Oh no, you nailed it. The show will continue tomorrow. I was suppose to drive down to the U S of A to pick up my foot holds and other parts but it turns out that my passport is expired so and I know good old Donald won't welcome me with open arms so I'll hack up my ski a bit more before work.

Should I try chiselling out the tray from the hood?

Haha... yeah the Don is a stickler for border stuff!!! yeah, a chisel might work, but those micro-oscillating cutters with a wood blade (large teeth) might work better and you could be more precise.

The liner is best removed when the hood is unmolested , if you cut the hood up prior to removing the liner it structural integrity allows it to flex and its a pain in the rear to get the glued parts out......( says the guy who has removed a ton of them ) :)

Aww crap. Well I'm screwed then. I already hacked mine up. Well there's nothing JB weld can't fix.

Has anyone here rockered a sn without using a kit like a carterb or 701? Does anyone know of a thread that shows how you cut up the nose to mold it into a rocker?

Awesome! Thanks I'll try that today. I will post pictures of the disaster later today.

There is also a thread somewhere showing it done w/ the top deck still on. Similar slot cuts on the bottom deck and they cut swoops in the sides of the nose on the top deck to give the bottom deck room to move up. In a different thread I recall seeing a ratchet strap being used to curl the nose up after the bottom deck was slotted and the top deck was cut to make room.
