Super Jet click,wont start

so my 93 sj was starting fine than it got hard to start, Now it just makes one click noise and nothing.
I got it to start once it sounds like its coming from the electrical box
Thanks for any input

I'd check your fuse in the electric box first. Mine kept popping fuses, thought it was the CDI, but it turned out to be the voltage regulator. Anyway, pull the cap off and check to see if the fuse is intact.

check the selenoid. Mine does the same thing, it will jsut click and nothing... sometimes i have to tap on the electrical box. Or just keep hitting the start button over and over, she might start... That is if you are a cheap Arse like me and wont buy a new one until the old one goes out, lol.

Next time get a test light, go from ground on battery to the positive post on the starter. Hit the start button. If the light comes on then its getting power to the starter, your problem lies with the starter. If it doesn't light up then its before the starter. Broken wire or relay. If it clicks and theres no power to the starter then its probably a solonoid. If it clicks at all you can rule out start/stop switch and most likely rule out the cdi. I had my positive starter wire rub the couplers and ground out. Just clicked like that too. Just a quick way to chase down the "click" which usually happens in the middle of the water.

If it clicks, its probably not the solenoid, or "relay" as it is supposed to make a clicking sound. It is a solenoid after all. Mine did absolutely nothing when it was the solenoid. Anytime Ive had a click, or a slight whining sound from the ebox, it was a connection, or the starter itself.

Like mentioned, test from the starter back, after first verifying your battery is good, for future reference. I also dont think the start circuit goes through the cdi from my messing with the ebox. At least it doesnt need the cdi at all plugged in to crank over, I know that.
