I know there are a lot of posts out there in regards to this but I just hoping to confirm my troubleshooting guess.
Solenoid is clicking when I hit start. Happened earlier this year but I thought I had fixed it.
I replaced my starter with new
I replaced my solenoid with new
After that everything worked for a weekend.
Now I have tried two batteries one reads 10.40v and other is 12.52v. Weird thing now is that when i touch the two terminals together on the solenoid with a screwdriver I don't even get a spark. I got the engine to turn over last time i troubleshot this by doing that. When I touch the positive battery terminal with my volt meter and the solenoid terminal running to the starter to the negative volt meter I get 12.50v but RIGHT when I hit start it drops to like 3.0... So I am kinda noob with this... That is a bad thing correct? Would you guys think I should get a new battery instead of using my two old ones? Though one is fairly new. Also when putting new ends on my battery cables I noticed the copper was mostly brown color. Is this a sign that my wires are going bad?
To sum it up...
Do you guys think this is a ground or battery issue? I don't think I killed my solenoid..
With no spark/turnover on a straight bridge and that voltage drop that's what's leading me in this direction.
