What are you guys using for gloves in cold water? Im in AZ but im a baby when it comes to cold water and the Jet Pilot gloves I bought are thinner than the MX gloves I wear! Any suggestions?

Ha ha just playing. I hope you dont take offense. In all honesty, a guy i rode with recommended these to me. After trying them on at the lake i fell in love, but they i got cheap and regretfully bought something else. I'll be buying these as soon as my cheap ones wear out.

Haha that's hilarious, we Arizona boys are used to 110 degree heat so I don't do well with the cold water! Any info on those gloves? what are they and how thick?

Hot hands kit all the way. You'll have to wear gloves to keep the water from burning you then.

Redirect one of your pissers into a 3/8 line run up the handpole, add a T and plumb it to spray water on your hands. We usually run one up the pole for the hands and another in the tray in a fan pattern for the feet. I resisted for the first couple years but now that I've acclimated to the south, I think they are the only way to go.

Cold is relative. It's not so much the actual temperature as it is the differential from what your used to.

I went from riding in Northern Canada with ice on the water to riding North Florida year round. I laughed at the guys with the hot hands but like I said, after 6 years down here, I've become acclimated and can really appreciate warm hands and feet.

I don't run mine as hot as other's do, I just like them to take the edge off so I don't have to wear any thicker gear than I would the rest of the year.

I run my hot water year round. On summer days I just point it so it doesn't hit my hands or feet. It also keeps me in constant check of engine temp when I'm WOT. I went riding a few times already in Moto gloves in 30-40* air temps this winter with just the hot water running and it's more then enough. The 1-2 mil dive/surfing gloves are a little annoying to wear I think.

I think they have different thicknesses you can buy but my friend uses the 3 mil gloves and rides until the ice is just above freezing temps. Just type in NRS titanium kayak gloves and plenty of options should come up.

Im from Nebraska originally and have been here in AZ for 12 years now. We used to ride a lot of small rivers and half thawed lakes, jumping and sliding over sheets of ice to get to the next open water area, haha. I used to wear Sealskinz waterproof insulated gloves along with the Slippery drysuit w/ built in booties. Also I duct taped over the glove to the rubber wrist seal on the drysuit. These gloves are not very thick, insulated well, great grip, & will last a long time. Their secret is a patented three-layer membrane that lets perspiration out for comfort but prevents all moisture from penetrating.

Thicker gloves isn't the answer, using thicker gloves will just give you arm pump. Use the same Jet Pilot gloves you use all year, but just like every one has already said make your own and install some Hand warmers for $10. Do you know what Hand warmers are?

+1 On hot hands! I ride with mountain bike gloves all year round over in our cold UK waters. I've drilled and tapped my bars and have water running through my bars and spraying on my palms by holes in my grips.....lovely and toasty :)
