Cold water riding clothes

Went to the lake today with some friends. It was 40 degree air temps and 38 water. I wore a 3/2 full wetsuit, gloves and jet pilot shoes. The only thing that was cold was my toes and hands. Everything else didn’t bother me at all. I know most guys will reroute their pisser water through the pole to the bars and their 2nd line into the tray, but I’d like to get peoples opinions on what shoes, socks and gloves to wear before I decide to reroute the Pissers. Any help would be appreciated. It took my toes over a half hour to unthaw when we got done riding.

2mm neoprene socks in a shoe an extra size up. Or 8mm booties if your not looking to kick in tight. My hands typically have 1mm gloves and hot hands through the pissers. Best of luck and ride safe.

You need to find a good set of 1-2mm neoprene socks, that has no sole- and velcro around your ankle. This will keep your feet somehow warm. But expect the socks to last anything from 1-2 seasons when kicking in footholds.
My buddy has made a setup taking one pisser line on his XFS ninja to the feet for "hot feet" (like hot hands through pole)

But what i learned, is that its a give/take relation when we ride in 0deg C water in Denmark.
you gotta ride in 5/4 mm good quality wet suit, with good neproene socks and then the ringer - gloves that is not to thick.
so my 2 cents. find something that is comforatble riding in and will keep your warm for like 30 min or 40 min ride time and call it a session :)

For gloves, I wear 3mm Neoprene Gauntlets. I have 5mm but they're too thick.

For shoes, I wear Scuba Diving Boots late season. They're 6mm and my feet have never gotten cold in them.

For wet suits, I wore a 2/3/4 John for years. Now I have a 5.2mm O'Brien one piece. I have never gotten cold in this suit.

The only part that gets cold is my trigger finger. I bring a thermos of hot water to pre-charge my wet suit. Prevents having to get cold and warm the water up while riding.

Cheers

The hot water pre-charge is the best, then refill off the ski pisser as needed.

Any recommendations on gloves/hoods?

I'm into kayaking. And it's easy to notice that if you're cold and wet, then kayaking gives very little pleasure. You want to finish rafting as soon as possible, change into dry clothes, and do everything the next morning to avoid getting into wet clothes again and then into cold water. Where is the fun in kayaking, kayaking when it is so cold? To protect against hypothermia caused by constant contact with cold water, tourists first used wool underwear, then clothing made of splash-proof materials. Later came the first wetsuits made of rubberized fabric, then neoprene. I once wondered about this when I was ordering a box with clothes on https://thefemaleprofessional.com/comparison-clothing-subscription-boxes/, and the thought occurred to me, why can't they make the same boxes, only with wetsuits, lol.
