Colorado Tuning

Bought an fx1 in California, and it is tuned for sea level. I will have it here in Colorado on Tuesday (even though I can't ride it yet till it warms up!)

The lake I ride at is 5,500 ft elevation.

Will I need to rejet the carb or will the tuning screws work for such a difference in altitude?

Screws will get you close enough for a stock ski. The two absolute best things you can do are:

A) increase compression to compensate for altitude.
B) go to a lower pitch impeller to get RPMS up.

ADA heads are the "go-to" standard. Get 31cc domes for your elevation. Girdled or not is up to you, but the girdle is a good idea if you plan to mod more in the future.

and x2 on going to ride with these guys at Boyd. You will learn a lot and meet some great people...

Ya for sure that'd be awesome, when is typically your first ride of the season?

And RMBC, what does "girdled" mean? I plan on putting a factory b pipe, a prop, maybe a flywheel but thats pretty much it.

first ride for me is opening day, unless that falls on a weekday in which case would be the first saturday day after ;) come join me. Last year that fell on march 2nd. Hoping the warm weather keeps up so they open in feb. I think I saw chase out there last year early march too.
