300/440/550 Cooling line hookup on an 82 JS550

Hey guys, trying to figure out how the cooling lines get hooked up on my 82 js550. First of all, it has a newer engine with the "Jet Power" stock exhaust setup on it. There are 4 spots to hook up lines on the engine.

One on the rear exhaust manifold
One where the manifold meets the headpipe
One on top of the headpipe
One on the front of the cylinder head

There is also a plugged port on the upper front most part of the exhaust.
There should be no lines for bypass fittings "pissers" as the boat was never setup for it.

Thanks for any insight.

well, mine is an 89. but the exhaust is what you are talking about I bet.

anyways, in the pic, at the rear of the headpipe you can see the grey line- that goes to the pisser on the left of my ski. if you dont have the pisser I dont know if youd drill a hole and pop one in, or just plug this off.

the one at the bottom of the headpipe where it bolts to the manifold goes up to the outlet on the cylinder head (I assume mine used to go to the front of the cylinder head since that is what the book shows. somewhere along the line when someone installed that fitting to flush it out with a garden hose they move it to the rear of the head and put the hose fitting up front.

so that takes care of the last 3 of your list, I didnt notice anything specifically going to the manifold itself though.

if noone else has the answer for that one, I might go uncover the ski and take a look for you, or go get the book from the shed and take a peek in there to see.

Thanks for the quick reply. the one going to the manifold itself usually gets hooked up to the line from the pump, the main one I'm concerned about is the one you have going to the pisser. Just wondering what I can hook it to since I don't want to install a pisser on this particular hull.

you need to run that line coming out of your exhaust manifold. if you dont want to put a pisser in you have to route it into the waterbox somehow.

I would just run that hose through the hole going into the handepole to get it out of the hull, if you were not wanting to drill a hole for the pisser line.
