I have been trying to find information on how to cover a composite seat with vinyl. A composite shell can't be stapled. I suppose it could be to some degree with a flange from a multi-part mold... Anyway, I don't want a turfed seat. I want 25mm hydro turf underpad covered with vinyl. I do not know the best best method in which to attach the vinyl. If anyone has a good method I can start with, it'd be appreciated and would save a lot of trial and error. My searches have not been fruitful.

If it matters, it's for a x2 seat.

you will most likely have to glue it down with contact cement...you wont be able to just glue the vinyl down very well...you could fabricate a cover that has some thin foam in it and than a backer material that you will than be able to glue down, this will also allow you to finish off the edges and make it look nice...same idea as the old jettrim or apdesign footmats

Ive also seen some vinyl seat covers glued on the edges so no staples...they are a real pain to install as the glue has to set before you can pull them tight, but with patience its doable...I cant see the white fabric backer on the vinyl gluing well with contact cement but you might be able to sew on a edge that would adhere better

ive also seen some older motorcycle seats that have little prongs, kinda like a carpet tack strip that you would stretch the vinyl over and will hold it in place

depending on how much room you have on the bottom side of seat you might be able to use some starboard strips screwed down through the top and use them to staple into

How exactly do those install and what kind of flange or whatnot do they need on the part?

They work great on that blaster seat. And other upholstery on boats that I have personally seen go 90 mph. Exactly what your looking for bud. Trust me. You place them at different angles. Doesn't come off unless you pry at it and really want them off.

Arnt those for holding panels on though same as in a door panel...you would need a panel with the vinyl attached to it already which would than have those installed and than that press into the fibreglass to hold it on...would work in a boat fine but I am pretty sure vumad wants to wrap vinyl like a normal seat cover just with 25 mm underpad under it...I think your only real way to get it to work like you want will be to have the vinyl have two seams in it that runs the length of the seat, this will let the vinyl lay flat down the sides and than glue the vinyl to the bottom side to the seat...will just have to make sure seams are lined up but it's doable...have seen it done on car console lids...some heavy duty spray adhesive would probably do the trick

Instead of rivets you could use t nuts under the padding to screw a flange into. Could be a clamp type flange too that hold the vynil tight

Or sew a small cable into the edge of the cover, leave eyelets to connect a spring to pull the cable tight when the cover is on. Some sled seats are like this and the composite seats in my drift car are the same as well.
