Crank bearing locator pin questions

So has anyone ever come across some cases where the previous mehanic/owner/whoever didn't install the crank correctly on the locator pins?

When cases are torqued, the crank bearings press the locators into the cases rendering them useless. Just curious if anyone has an easy fix for this.

Use the same methods as what it takes to remove a broken bolt.

Wasn't there a similar post to this last year but the pins ended up busting out the backside of the cases?

Although crude, this worked. I was faced with either trying it or trashing a set of ported/epoxied cases. So, I triangulated the pin position with a micrometer and marked the same location on the other side of the pin. Drilled down to it with a press. Tapped out the pin to desired height and back filled/sanded the bore hole with Epoxy putty. Worked like a charm.

I guess you were the one with this problem last year. I recalled the post OCD mentioned but couldn't find it in a quick search. I'll see what I can do tomorrow after work.

I would pull them by welding as per your plan and then attempt to source/make longer pins. Check factory height above the cases and add that to the depth of the holes you've got.

Front pin went through the cases. Quick fix with the tig.

Rear pin pulled right out with the mig welder trick.

Now to find some replacement pins and put it back together with a fresh crank.
