Super Jet crank options

i am in the process of building a 61x 701, so far i have cleaned up the ports and plan on running around 175psi compression and a protec black pipe, what crank should i run? i was leaning towards a hot rods but i heard they can have bearing problems. i also have a chance to buy a used oem crank that is sayed to be in good shape for a quarter of the price. what would you guys recommend i do?

I am running an SBT crank in my ported 718 hi comp motor
2 seasons, 250+ hours and going strong
just DO NOT use SBT crank seals, they suck
OEM only on the seals

For the $ with just 175 comp. I would also recomend hitting up JetManiac, one year no fault warranty I beleive too.

Hot Rods uses the good koyo bearings and all so dont know where the bad quality would come from unless they changed recently? Price is steep though, I would recomend them over SBT if running higher compression and or a super expensive billet top end or seriously ported cases.

I bought a Hot Rods crank just over 3yrs ago and it said made in Taiwan on the box, it did not have Koyo Seiko bearings and it had excessive lower rod bearing tolerance. It was not suitable to be installed/run...

The webs have been known to crack.
It isn't all in the bearings.

I heard the same thing Matt. What happened with that company that Paul Lehr was talking about several months ago. They were aftermarket cranks with good jap/koyo bearings and near oem specs. I think Paul was saying they were a bit cheaper than Hotrods and supposedly better quality. Fwiw I'm running an SBT in my Dasa SS 850 with no issues. Compression is pump gas 180 without issues.

Patch (Moto360) here on the boards does a great job rebuilding stock and aftermarket cranks. You get to select bearings, rods, etc. I went all OEM bearings on mine and its still cheaper than new and tighter tolerances also. We have 5 of his cranks running in our immediate area and everyone that I know of I recomend to him now. He rebuilds quite a few every year.

Warranty is no fault that is correct, I don't believe any other crank has a warranty at all?

We run lots of compression with the sbt cranks without issues so far.
