Cutting down X-metal pole??

anyone on here have experience chopping a X-metal pole? Where did you cut it at? Lol I have a standard length pole I'm thinking about chopping 6" off to make it comp length instead of buying a new pole. I'm curious how others have done it before I start chopping it down. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!!!

My buddy did it (he had a comp pole and had to go shorter lmao). He cut it at the very top where the weld is, then he chopped 3" off from there with a vertical chop to match with the previous cut. He may have pictures and be able to explain it better. New powder coat and it looks like it was that way out of the box. @Todd Grochowski.

Mine was done at the bottom older style xmetal pole like an inch above pole pivot and was sleeved

Yes I cut my pole up near the weld to remove the piece that accepts the steering. Then I cut what I needed off but also took note on the angle I wanted my steering.
I chose to cut up near the top to reduce the amount of stress on the poll and to hide any flaws.
