i pulled a motor apart the other day and noticed a couple knicks around the exhaust port where it looks like someone tried to clean up the sleeves that stick up or somthing.when i bore can i just get new or bigger rings or do i have to get all new piston kits? they are right on the edge of the sleeve at the exhaust port. or can i just sand them down myself and reuse everything?

bore and just start over fresh all new pistons and everything

The right answer is to get new pistons & rings and take those and the cylinder to a machine shop & have them bore it to the proper clearance for the new pistons.
