De-foam, tray rebuild, foot holds, new turf for new superjet

Hey guys, I have been lurking on here for quite some time. Finally pulled the trigger and got a 91 superjet mostly stock. I went to replace the turf and found out the ski tray was pretty badly cracked. I figured a de-foam and footholds would make sense since I am fixing the tray. I cut out the tray pretty nicely so I think I can use it again with added support.

-should I use the old tray or buy a panel?
-What oz glass should I use to reinforce the seams?
-should I put in a drain while I am at it? Specific one?
-any other tips?

I would use the panel you cut out. Grind the gel coat off so that your not glassing to gel coat but the actual fiberglass. Might also be a good idea to bevel the edges of the cut out piece.

I like to use 1708 biaxial fiberglass. http://www.shopmaninc.com/specialty.html

Drains are a good idea. Lots of options. versiplugs, oem drain plugs, make your own...

typically, the foam up high in the sides is dry, its the foam down low that gets wet and holds the water. So, I would say leaving the foam in the sides is acceptable. Now is the perfect time to put footholds in if you have any inclination to do that.

I have most of the foam out, so I decided to put in a scupper since I allready have the floor open. I also reinforced the bottoms here out side repairs had been previously done. 3 questions:

1. when installing the epic scupper, the instructions say to use epoxy glue to seal the scupper to the hull and the pvc pipe to the engine bay. Can I use 4200/5200, or thickened epoxy resin, or something else?

2. Since I have he tray and foam out, is there anything else I should take care of besides new foam, scupper, and footholds? I also plan on resealing the drive shaft pipe, controls conduit to the entrance and exits?

thickened epoxy or 5200 will work. Better yet, double it up. Epoxy it in then 5200 over the epoxy to keep water from finding a way in.

add drains, run a trim tube, add a 4 inch wide strip of fiberglass to the bondline after filling the crevice with thickened epoxy. And don't glass to gel coat; grind it off.

Put 4200 on all my through hull fitting for controls and exhaust.
Got my scupper holes cut, waiting on some more 3m 4200 to arrive. Starting to Sand my hood and ski for paint. I am going to use a single stage urathane from summit racing. I was going to do a wild color, but I kind of like white, plus it won't show any scratches. Anything else I should do to my hull since I about to paint it?

And always wear gloves when using that crap. It was stuck on my fingers until the old skin died, and I had to scrape as much as I could of it off of my fingernails with a razor blade.. Still was there for about a month, lol.

Finally got the footholds in, just need to glass the seams and foam it then she is ready for paint.

I was going to paint it white with a single stage urethane but now I am thinking that might be boring. Trying to think of some cool color schemes.
