Denting your B-pipe

Hey everyone, just got a new mod pipe for my 96 superjet. The problem is its hitting the edge on the hull on the ribs. It says in the paperwork they gave me just to hit the pipe and make a dent. The question I have is how big of a dent can I make? It's going to take a few big ones to clear the wall. Anyone have any input thanks.

I shaved down my ribs and still had to piss pound it with my framing hammer to get clearance on the side. I also had to take a grinder to my bed plate and dent the underside of the chamber to clear the motor mount area.

Yea I ground off the ribs on my SJ when I reinforced it and I still had to dent my mod pipe as well. I found the best way to do it was to use one of those 3 pound orange rub mallets from Harbor Freight and lay the pipe in the grass in my front yard (sod seems to give and doesn't mess up any other parts of the pipe).

Oh... you might want to drill and tap the exhaust manifold for dual cooling as well before you put that in.

I never "dented" my chamber. I did stuff it in there..."made it fit"... not really a good idea. Later grinded ribs. Grinding the hull ribs is the way to go.
Also contact cemented 1/4" rubber or turf scraps in other areas where the chamber contacted the hull, mounts etc...

(Edit ignore my ramblings)Grind your hull first and then smack that sucker, the outer size of that pipe is mainly all water jacket, it's rare to see a bpipe not dented to fit, usually means its not lined up properly, i think its more important that you also dent(only if needed but most do) the area around the front head bolts, if it rubs the hull it vibrates, if it rubs the motor then get your welder out cause it won't take long to put a hole in the water jacket

The b pipe/mod chamber isn't jacketed.
