sounds like a scam, were they "professionally cared for" or did he "just need the cash" or "they were my ex-husbands"

Probably not a scam. Lots of good deals pop up.

Examples of legit sales...

Gp1200 running need handle brass and steering cable $1400 obo lawyer bought a second rxpx and the gp1200 was sitting on the lift where her 50ft baja was on order to go. got for my wife $1000
2 4stroke skis on double trailer $2000 spoke to lady on the phone, I was second caller and 1st called did show up and buy. Husband had a stroke, she was unloading stuff.
2008 sj with rrp, b-pipe, girlded head, etc, $5500. Sold by a forum member here I've ridden with. I'm an idiot for not buying that ski.

There are deals to be had. Just about how fast you can target and pull the trigger.

So how does that scam work, exactly? You go over there with your money and they deal isn't as good as it looked? You get jumped?
What?

Those deals pop up here and there. People are stupid and don't know what they have.
In 2005 I picked up a 2001 SJ, 2000 GP760, 2002 Ultra 150 for $8,200. They all needed just a little bit of work. After selling both couches, gas for driving (it was a long trip), and money for fixes, I got to keep a four year old Superjet for $800. You just need to look for deals and be quick on the draw.

only thing i think might not be legit is that they actually sold. he called me back and left a vm saying they were already sold but i think he realized his mistake and deleted the ad. which i dont blame him. i would do the same thing if i goofed up like that and realized it in time.

That's how it works, pick them up in fall and sell them in Spring. Hate to do it, but we got to support our habits somehow, right? Then in Spring we will have a thread how high the prices are....well look in Fall. Call it a "winter storage fee". Yeah, bunch a deals come up right now, it's good to have cash in hand. Plus it keeps us busy in winter, polishing those turds :)

You got to be pushy, come up with a good story...like, my one of 20 children realy wants one. The only problem is, when you pull up with a truck all stickered out with JETMANIAC! Just kinda of did that, exccept my son came with me and asked for a FEE! Bastard! He is learning...............:spankme:

Ya you show up and there is a gun in your face when you walk into the garage

Happened to me about three months ago in socal. I drove 5 hours to get a rn for my buddy got there and the guy pulled a gun and took my wallet and all my buddies cash and I had my .380 in the truck just incase should have grabbed it

Same for me. Running 650sx, no papers for 200. Running ts650 for $100 no papers, beat a guy there by less than 30minutes who drove 2hrs lol. 1997 gp1200 that my buddy got for his gf for 150, no papers. Good deals pop up, just need to have cash in hand, room on trailer (or a truck bed), and a fast vehicle to get there before other people. All purchased during the summer! Wonder how cheap they could have been in the winter?? ha

Local to me last summer was a mint b1 on a lift picked up for 250$ thanks to darkwater for telling me about it. New crank seals and she was good to go.

What is up with not meeting at a public place? Like a Walmart parking lot where there are cameras.

This was actually one of my reasons for purchasing my first handgun. I haven't done a deal since that I didn't have a gun on me or covering me. It's also why I taught my wife to shoot. She stays in the truck with my Ruger in hand and ready to go.

I usually do transactions at a Publix a few blocks away but I had a couple guys come to the house to buy my old truck and I had my gun on my hip each time. They were good guys and I wasn't worried but I make sure that anyone that comes in my home knows that I'm armed.

Good deals pop up all the time and people sell things for various reasons. My buddy bought a 1999 Infiniti G20 with a new starter and new brakes for $800. I test drove it and it drove like a new car-- even the AC worked. The people he bought it from were total alcoholics who needed the cash. That was last year, and I think he has put another 20k miles on it.
