difference between sj 96+ & 08

is there anything different in the scoop grate area?

the reason i ask i have a wcf hull based on an 08.. ive offered up my existing grate off a 04 and it fits.. yet i see there are 08 specific scoop grates out there

this is just speculation.... I'd guess it's because the 08+ pump is set back so the scoop probably shaped different to channel the water further back and not as much up.

that would make sense, the mounting holes definately seem to be in the same place

Absolutely the pump tunnels are a different shape from 96+ to the 08. I have run the 96+ grate on my 08 and did not like it at all. The grate in my opinion is way to aggressive for the 08 hull/pump tunnel design. The boat felt glued to the water and was very hard to get any " pop " esp off of flat water setup wake, not to mention it really sucked the back of the boat down into the water making it almost impossible to slash and slide up the face of a wave in the surf. I now run the worx grate designed for the 08 hull and it is much better! The angle of the scoop is a little different ( Less aggressive curvature on the scoop/blade ) to contour to the 08 tunnel, it might be worth a try to cut the center out of the 96+ grate like the 08 and see how you like it. The newer superjet has a flat tunnel roof more suited for racing and the older is more curved, so different angles are need for the intake grate scoop.
