Surfriding Disappointed

I couldn't ride today. My wife's birthday. Went down to the spot just to say hello. Riders from Jax and Georgia etc...
Good size waves, but windy and choppy.
But what has me disappointed is what I saw my brothers doing.
You guys swarmed around those surfers like gnats. I was actually embarrassed. You all know better.
I rode around to the surfer spot as you guys went out for your first burn. Some gal was on the phone to the sheriff within 10 minutes.
Us locals will have to deal with this next week when you're not here. Kinda f'd up.
Most are not strangers to the spot. That's what kills me.
C'mon guys. WTF.

The south break has always belonged to the surfers. It's rare that we get to ride it. So, of course, when they are not there we get all over it. But, if the waves are good..... 2 times in the past 15 years that I can remember......wondering why no surfers were there .... but we always give them space.
The waves were trash today no matter which break you chose to ride. Outside, north sandbar, center bar.... I could see that it was all the same, even though I never got in the water.
Again. C'mon guys. WTF?

Dan as a friend and someone who is all about respect, i only passed through and found a clear area with no surfers. Its when they throw there hands up when im 50ft away as im passing through telling me they own this beach, i find the nearest wave and throw the biggest back flip and move on. There is room for both of us respect on both ends.

None of us were riding anywhere near the surfers. If they got mad because we were shredding up the outside break far away from them, then boo hoo. We rode past them to the other side with maybe a few waves on the way by them. But never near them. There will always be those people on the beach that will make a big deal out of nothing. We deal with the surfers at Hugo all the time. We always give them room, but they always love to make a big deal out of nothing. This post disappoints me, none of us did anything wrong, don't stick up for the cry baby surfers that want to hate. Like Eric said, we respect their space, but these people think they own the ocean. It's not just jet skis, ride out there on another surf board and get in their way, I bet you get treated the same. Surfers are selfish, that's all there is to it.

They need to be informed that we are not what they need to worry about, but all the noobs on couches they should act this. We are weary of their presence too. I always make it known when they get too close, but until that happens all is ok.

hey boys, if you see surfers in that area stay away. We have plenty of space around that area. I did see what Dan is talking about. There were a few guys that paddled way out. I didnt see them untill I was close to them, so i headed away from them but I think some of yall got caught up in the moment and rode around those two guys for a while. Dan lives and rides there so next time think about that.

Bunch of drama queens! Yea, we had to somehow pass them, the surf was way overhead, so we might have been in a close proximity for a brief moment. Sorry ya'll!
I am surprised this conversation did not appear on a earlier occasion -- Jim loves to steal surfers' waves.

This is pure BS. I was there. I saw it. N-E-S-W riders surrounding 2 surfers, not just passing through, as if to make a statement. Within 50'. Close to the rocks where they paddle in. Not on the outside. I wish that I shot some pics so that I could show you how stupid you looked.
Your "BOO-HOO" attitude is the very thing that makes this a continuous battle instead of some sort of agreement.

There was nothing that I could have said to that gal on the phone to the cops to justify my friends behavior. Embarrassing, even though she had no idea who I was.

I know a lot of these surfers. I've done my best to explain to them that if they see a rider on a "stand-up", chances are, that that person will ride with respect. I've never made excuses for couchers getting out of line. There are too many and I don't know most of them.
I'm not gonna name names or even berate anyone any further. Y'all know.

It disappoints me even further that posts indicate denial and guilt, like a kid getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Not a lie. I didn't see any of what you speak of. I wasn't around them for more than a few seconds. There were a few guys that were out there pretty far and once we realized it we gave them room.

If this is so, Then how can you say "none of us were riding anywhere near the surfers"?
I think, maybe, your hand is in the cookie jar. lol.

Nope I was there I met you. Lol

I don't live in Va anymore. I don't troll fellow enthusiasts about butt hurt surfers.

I thought that what your describing was an exaggerated of what I saw. But it's entirely possible as I wasn't involved that it happened and I didn't see it. So your right I shouldn't say none of us were. But I knew we rode around them and I know it wasn't as you were describing and thought it was all blown out of proportion by drama queen surfers lol.
