Disconnecting qsts wb2!

How do I disconnect the quick shift trim system on my wave blaster 2 so I can run aftermarket bars and grips? I would like it to stay in the neutral position.

You can replace the reduction nozzel with a standard one, and plug off the trim tube.

Some models have the trim ring but its fixed to the reduction nozzle if the ski wasn't equipped with trim. I'm sure someone has one of those brackets laying around.

Or use what ya got to make a c.a.t.s.

I would lock the adjuster that's under the hood where the cables meet. Set it where you want it, and drill a hole through the round part, and bolt it through the stainless bracket.

There's no reason to buy a CATS for a ski that came with QSTS. Buy the Protec trim kit that turns your QSTS into a up or down lever pull.

Can you link me to that Vumad? Where Would the lever be at if I did it

I dont know where exactly you can buy a protec trim system these days. They may be discontinued. All it was really was a custom cable that allowed you to connect to a single side of the qsts mechanism inside the hull and traded out the qsts grip for a lever. It also had a spring for the side of the qsts you were not using.

You can make one, you just may need to get a little fancy connecting the cable to the mechanism. You need a left handed bike lever and a stainless brake cable similar in qualiy to the cables you remove the the qsts. One end of the cable screws right into the bike lever, so you just need tk fabricate something to hold it to the qsts mechanism inside the hull.

I will provide the disclaimer that i have not actually done this job.i did try to find someone to modify the end of the stock cable to work for this job but could not find anyone. I did find a site online that would make any cable you like custom, but unfortantely i dont remember the web address.

Plenty of people have made good suggestions here so it is aorth investigating what they have said if the protect kit is not available and ypu dont want to hunt for a custlm cable.

Unfotunately i cant find any information about purchasing a kit. You should probably look into the options previously mentioned by others.

You can make your own handlebar pull lever with a cheap mountain bike lever from ebay. They are like $7 a piece. Then call up Terry Cable and get a cable from the lever to the trim mechanism in the hull. You have to call them, they do not have a website to order from that i know of. You basically delete the twist grip. The trickiest part is figuring out what length cable you need and how much longer pull it needs to provide. Definitely ask for stainless everything. I don't have many good pictures but the one picture shows how i mounted a waveraider trim under the hood of my 96 b2 that did not have trim. I use it for trim up. Helps get the nose up when wave jumping and the waves are small. I don't think you need trim on a B1 but it makes a big difference on the B2.

How much did terry cable charge you for the custom cable?

I really just wish I could put on aftermarket grips and bars on it with it still there. but I'm guessing since the finger lever is on the grip that's not possible tight ? The grips are getting worn out and I like the look of after market bars!
