Surfriding DIY chin pad

Anyone ever made their own chinpad? I have some extra resin and glass laying around and I don't have a chin pad, any ideas floating out there?

Sure make a mold out of foam or something and get creative

started to make my own one. use alloy for the plug

I made one out of cardboard once then just glassed over it.

When I finally get to that point of the build cardboard sounds cheep and easy. I'd go with aluminum but I'm not working in my airframes shop for another year... No free metal and no tools...

i took my x-metal pad,covered it with foil and plastic wrap and draped one layer of x mat over it. kept it in place until hard with latex gloved hands. before it was rock hard, peeled it off and trimmed with shears. turfed it with black diamond and to the untrained eye, you cant tell it was made in about an hour. currently being used on the pole i made for my WDK rev 1200. made a couple the same way with a wamiltons polaris octane pad.

I made one out of aluminum. Hammered out the shape and turfed it.

I used the cardboard box idea.. this is my first try at it.. I refuse to pay 300 for a rrp chinpad..

what do you coat the cardboard with to keep the glass from sticking?

Duct tape! I'm sure there are other things too

I found pics, and since this got bumped up... Still in use today.

The two piece design was only because I didn't have one solid piece in my shop that was big enough.
