Do I have a Pre-1996 impeller housing???

I'm installing my Solas concord today and I notice that my pump is two different tones of gray-green. No big deal, I take the old Solas impeller out and go to put the concord in but . . . it's too big. It absolutely will not fit into my impeller housing.

I also notice a little diffenence in diameters of the pump. The impeller housing has a 3-6 mm smaller diameter than the pump duct. WTF. :banghead:

Do I have an older housing and impeller currently installed?

It may be an FX1,

Take a ruler or micometer and check the inner diameter:
144 SJ
142 FX1

Being a solas, I would say that the prop is out of spec............ they have a history of that...........

my first solas was suppose to be 14.7-18.5 when checked it was 19 on one blade and 21 on the other two......... way out of spec.......

quality control is not as good with Solas as Skat.........

my second solas was a stock concorde, it was pitched way more than stated......... sold that joker.........

my 3rd Solas is a dynafly on my SXR, but I got it through IMPROS and was checked and tweaked before I got it......... so no worries.

uh, FX1's are about 128mm............

The side of the impeller housing is stamped 6R8.

I got my Solas form Dave. It's been cut back.

I think Yamaha used the 6R8 impeller housing on everyting from the 1990 SuperJet to the 1997 WaveRaider. (6R8-51312-02-94)

I think I know what happened:

I think my impeller housing has been modified to 140mm to accept a Skat Trak magnum pump.

Since the IJSBA rules mandate that a stock pump housing must be retained when raced with the C-75 magnum pump, Skat Trak installed their stainless steel 140mm insert into my pump case. But now the magnum pump is gone and I've been left with the sleeve still in my impeller housing.

Gotcha, well, someone is screeewweeddddd without the housing for said mag pump!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Contact tricky, he may have a stock houseing he would trade you.
