Do I need a reduction ring on end of nozzel?

Hi,

I bought a 85mm ring for my 04 octane. Wanted to compliment my shorter cone I just installed.

My question is if I am trying to widen the final path of the jet why even put a ring back in there at all?

I would just have about a 1 mm seam. Would that cause a problem?

It looks like the ring is tapered ever so slightly. I don't know why but it actually measures 90mm on one end. And 93mm on the other.
