Its not so much as weak material, its just the thickness. Why would you need to reinforce it if you live in Minnesota?

I would fill the holes, reinforce with at least 2 layers, then redrill the holes. That should be enough unless you really yank on the pole while riding.
I put an xmetal pole on my sn without reinforcing at all at first, but you could watch the entire mounting area flex and move while just raising and lowering the pole. I have 2 layers now and it is pretty solid, but I would do more if I rode harder.

Youll end up with the same amount of reinforcement for both hulls. either way you go.

squares need lots more work than rn. the only place you may develop cracks on the rn hull in flatwater is on the lowerdeck. for surf they should both be reinforced on the nose, crown, engine compartment, tray, and if you refoam, gunwhales.

I have seen more RN hulls cracked than SN's .
The SN top deck does need some help in the pole mount area but than again, so does the RN.

What about the tray area? I have seen some warped superjet trays too.
I was looking at a 91 SJ but think it might weigh as much as my 750 by the time I was done reinforcing.

I flipped the SN hull upside down and filled the voids on each side of the handlepole mount with thickened epoxy. I put a few layers of glass over it all the way acroos the handle pole mount before the thickened epoxy setup. It was alot more solid than stock.
