Do you use vaseline?

Water is somehow getting in the e-box. Right now it's just condensation. Water ALWAYS gets in the engine compartment every time I ride. It could be from the water evaporating and having nowhere to go.

How do you guys keep the water out? Are you suppose to replace the gasket every time you pop it open?

you need di-electric silicone in your electrical connections, its like vaseline but is made for electrical connections. but seal your ebox up good with rtv silicone to try and keep the water out

There's an argument about the dialectric thing. (Augustof feels differently).

But I know! It's a PIA to seal the box once you've taken it apart. The stock gasket, if it survived removal, is worth putting back in. add silicone/RTV on both sides and hope for the best.

Make sure the seal on the inside of the fuse-knob is good as well. (but you would have to sink it pretty hard to get water in there)

The rubber "grommett kinda things" that the wires go thru can leak as well. silicone them too.

Here's what I do to ensure a dry SJ ebox (works every time):

1. Use a new gasket
2. Use 1211 on the gasket
3. Do not over-tighten the screws
4. Use some grease on the fuse cap

There are several ways to make it work.
What I posted just has been the most consistently reliable method I've tried.

I like to unlatch it and let the hood rest over the hasp/latch. This props it up enough for me.

I do the same - one other thing I do to address the e-box condensation problem is unscrew the fuse access cap after each ride to give the insides an opportunity to air out.

For what it's worth - I sunk my ski in saltwater a couple weeks back. It was submerged for a good 15 minutes. The ebox is dry.
