Blaster Dont be a victim of crack

transom fitted.jpgcarbon plate with r-exh.jpgtoughen-up-full.jpgreap kit.jpgcarbon plate.jpgA common problem on the Blaster is transom failure. For what ever reason, these transoms were made to thin from the get-go. If your planning on going big, and you haven't reinforced your rear end, you will be a victim of CRACK. We have been running SS reinforcement plates in AUS for years. Its such a cheap insurance against your transom cracking. What it costs to buy one of these plates is cheap compared to having your transom re-glassed and painted. Not to mention the down time. Most rear ends will have lots of stress fractures ,and that's on skis that have never really done any work. The 701 Tough Arse plate once fitted, not only hides these cracks, but makes your transom super strong. You can get them in a mirror finish or in the Carbon look. Either plain or with a exhaust combo. Don't go big without one.

You have any installed pic. I know Chris had them at WaveDaze but most people looked and didn't understand.
Are you drilling holes and bolting them? Do you SEM them on?

Nice product.. But what's to prevent the rear lip from cracking.

Nothing, this is a transom reinforcement plate, not a lip saver. This addresses cracks to the transom.294889_167982166696314_250049116_n.jpg923162_167982163362981_1688677431_n.jpg Chop the lip off, best thing you can to to keep it from cracking.

are these available with exhaust hole on right side ??

The plates are mirror finished with a protective coating on one side. You can turn the plate around and it will fit perfect, but the reverse side has never been protected since the sheet was made. It will have many scratches on it. You could order a carbon wrapped one specifying a right hand exhaust . Cheers

The plain plates sell for $149.00 or $159.00 if you want the Carbon look. The Transom plates with the hole sell in a kit with a rear exhaust. These kits with the USA pipe sell for $239.00 and the carbon ones with the Black Reaper exhaust sell for $249.00. Both styles and combinations are in stock with Chris from 701 Industries USA. Cheers

Just released in Aus is the SURF WEDGE. This urethane moulding wedges up between the Transom and the deck overhang . Now when landing big jumps, you have the Transom plate to protect your rear from cracking, and the Surf Wedge now eliminates all the water pressure being applied to the bond line. I purposely left it short each end so you can still pick your ski up easily. The combinations of these two items , is a cheap investment in the long run. transom crack2.jpginsurf wedge3.jpg

I like that surf wedge a lot is it available in the US? Not to be a dick but how much can that thin stainless plate reinforce the transom? I'm not saying it doesn't just looking for some feedback, it seems like it might cover them up more than prevent them.

Chris has placed a order for stock of the Surf Wedges in Red ,Orange and Black. They should hit the States in 2 weeks. always best to put your name on one to hold it. You have a legitimate question which I will answer re the Transom plate. The standard blaster transom is was built way to light from the get go . Only averaging 4 to 5 mm thick, it is subjected to a lot of movement in compression when the Ski is landing from jumps or even just corning. By LAMINATING the transom with a 1.2mm thick SS plate, you have made the transom very strong and it will hold together and wont allow all the flexing which causes the cracks. So its not really about the thickness of the SS, its about the strength which occurs from LAMINATING. Hope that makes sense.DAVE

Cool I think that surf wedge looks awesome and would give me a lot more confidence hitting big waves, I reinforced my lip with a few layers but that would be much better. That makes sense about the plate, I already did rear exit a few years ago though so it wont line up with mine.

Is the carbon look made of carbon or just a decal? How does the surf wedge mount? And could you do the surf wedge but then do the plate later?

In situations where a rear exhaust is already fitted, so long as you can remove it, customers will buy a non exhaust hole model and drill the plate to suit there own exhaust. The Carbon wrap on the plates is just that. a wrap. they say the material has a 3 year warranty so will have to see. You still have a mirror finished plate under the wrap. Retainment of the surf wedge is done through the five existing trim holds. The Surf Wedge comes with 5 self taper screws,. The Wedge itself is a snug fit . These Surf Wedges and Transom plates are designed off a standard B1 so any mods to the rear end will most likely causurf wedge orane combo.jpgse fitment problems.SURF WEDGE FITTED XH20.jpgThis Red Surf Wedge is fitted to a Black Reaper Transom plate. Add a red ride plate and this is one cool looking arse end.
