Doing a search I really didn't see anything and don't know if this has been discussed or thought of before but are there any problems with drilling holes in the fire wall/Midshaft area in order to cut quite a bit away from the ski? Seems as if the holes were placed strategically where they wouldn't cause a structural concern and foam wasn't being used that it would significantly drop theweight. If no one has tried it and I don't get any adverse concerns I may be the guinea pig LOL

Considering how thick the bulk head is I would think I would lose a significant amount of weight.

I don't think there is any safe equilibrium with this problem. There MAY be a point where you could remove enough material to maintain significant strength while losing some weight however, I wouldn't trust myself to be the first...

At no point do I think that for 5lbs it is worth the risks, or the effort.

Just my thoughts. GL

Having no bulk head is a surefire way to make it sink to the bottom if it sinks.

Just my opinion - spend money on a good LiFePO4 battery, cut off excess glue, refoam, get a light a/m hood, lose some weight - any of those options are better than drilling holes in your bulkhead that will soak the foam and potentially endanger hull integrity.

All that stuff Matt said. If you want to grind/ cut on something, look at bed plates, pump tabs, etc. Hell, cut off the gunwales, make a flat deck.
