Driveshaft watertightning

Is was reading the other day about how if you don't torque an impeller when you put it on the water will tighten it for you, but Mach more tight) how true is this statement

I don't torque mine. Just get it tight. Never had a problem removing them months or years laterm

Always put em on snug. That way if you are brapping before it goes in the water it doesnt lossen up. Use grease, or antisieze in the shaft threads.
 
Just out of curiosity, would I be able to get away with letting it tighten itself in the water if I don't plan on taking her apart again in the near future

You should be fine, just get it as tight as you can, and fire it up for first time while still attached to your trailer, pump in the water. If you brap it out of the water, it COULD cause problems, though unlikely.
