What are the advantages of a dry cell battery over a regular one? Have to replace mine in the SJ and was thinking of going with a dry cell.

i dont think there are any real advantages. i mean, they work in theory. but thats just about it, i have found.

i prefer seald lead acid.

i've been using a Lynn Vick dry cell for two years now... great starting power and it has never needed charging... not even after sitting all winter.

Go with an AGM dry cell battery if you want the very best, they have the lowest internal resistance of any battery manufactured. This allows battery to be charged much faster rate and will deliver the highest cranking power when needed. AGM batteries also have a very low self-discharge rate, from 1% to 3% per month usually. This means that they can sit in storage for much longer periods without charging than standard batteries.

give me fuel give me fire
all i use are the odyssey drycell batteries and they are MUCH better than a regular acid type. they crank much faster for much longer. and they last a long time. I have found that if you ever do run them dead they have a very fast recovery time. just let it sit for a few minutes and your good.

I've heard that a lot of the better PWC batteries have epoxied plates to prevent loosening during pounding. Jetworks has this. I'm looking into their battery now as I also need a new one. The Oddyseys are quite heavy also.

Has anyone tried running an Odyssey PC610 (the standard replacement for most standups is PC625). The PC625 weighs 13lbs. The PC310 is a little shorter, but weighs only 6 pounds. It has less cranking power though. Nice to take seven pounds off the front of the ski though.

Ill skip some cheeseburgers or run half a tank of fuel before I give uy ANY battery capacity.

I drowned my ski a few times last weekend, and I counted on the Odeseyy pc625 to pump it out while I swam it in, and then to dry out the engine also.

any less capacity and I would have had to swap batteries in and out.

the pc625 doesnt feel any heavier than any other ski battery ive ever used.

run a smaller tank, and make a bracket that mounts the bettery in the center of the boat.

I think the beneifits of that are better than shaving weight & capacity from the battery
