Drypipe water injection, but wait.........

I want to experiment with full time water injection on my type 4, not using the controller or solinoid. Was thinking of a water filter, then a flow control valve to turn it on somewhere off idle, and perhaps a restrictor to limit the water to the spray bar. And yes, I know it will probably loose a tad bit on top end. I may also add a mini pisser to tell me when the system is on. The idea here is to gain more bottom at the expense of some top end, but don't want the added complexity of the additional electronics on board. Anyone ever try something similar?

If you are going to do all that jive just put in a SEADOO water regulator, put a 1/8 pipe thread fitting in the waterbox somewhere acessable and run the line from the reg to the pipe,it injects a lot of water at low speeds and tapers off toward the top end ,its cheap and its adjustable via different springs and an adjustment on the cap.

If your familiar with the type 4 it has a spray bar installed in the bottom of the manifold just before the chamber. Got any of those valves?

I am not at all familiar with the type 4 but the valves can be had cheaply,I can walk you through the install.Check with Mitchell at M&M marine hes close to you and should have bunches of these in stock. What size hose goes on the spray bar?

It downsizes to 1/8 inch hose, I emailed a local seadoo buddy who may be able to help as well. Hose goes on the bottom by the arrow.

Thats nice, but not what came in my MSD kit, it uses a 1/16 pipe thread spraybar.

At any rate its close enough to make it work,I know I could but then I can adapt a Buick windshield wiper motor to a billy goats ass using only a green roasting ear, bailing wire and sheet metal screws ,it would work too!:djsmilie:

Gotcha Mcgyver, I'll try it full force first to see how the benefits are before committing to the entire setup, but I am optimistic. And you can't easily find a tap for that spraybar, I ended up drilling the 1/8 plug and tapping it with a metric tap that was close enough.

My ECWI sprayer is 1/16" pipe thread also. 1/16" pipe thread does not mean the sprayer uses 1/8" hose. To my knowledge no one makes a sprayer that uses 1/8" hose. The correct drill size for 1/16" pipe threads is "C"(.242"). You would also have a difficult time tapping the sprayer for a mikuni main jet if it was sized for 1/8" hose.:veryhappy:

Got everything hooked up, ran the solinoid to my bilge switch for testing to see if this is even worth the work. The hose is not 1/4 inch id, much smaller as I said earlier. If all checks out, I will go ahead with the Seadoo water valve, anxious to hit the water sunday.:fing02:

i was always told by alot of ppl that the colder the water is the more effect it has, so shouldn't you run the water injection line off your main feed line before it is heated up by the pipe or motor???

and what was the results of doing this water injection the way you did it crab??

if your runnint it into the spraybar at the manifold put put a 100 jet in the line to restrict it and run it full time.thats what worked best on waterdawg manifold and its setup that way
