First time drysuit owner needing to replace seals. What sealant works best? Is there a 5200 for drysuits lol

On another note what lubes keep the seals fresh and free from dry rotting?

Went the the local dive shop and they told me each manufacture uses a different glue b/c of how the materials react and if I used the wrong stuff it wold just eat away the seals. bummer.
Anyone know what Slipper Sub Zero use to use, see that they know longer produce dry suits

I'm really still considering it.. O'Neil replaces their seals for 20$ each

Slippery used to do it on warranty until they stopped selling them altogether.
There was a story where a guy had 10+ years on his and they replaced all the seals and the zipper for free. That's some smart PR because that guy told everybody!

I tried to send mine in but they had already discontinued the service. I ended up having a local dive shop repair mine but they used heavy wrist seals like what they use in proper drysuits. They were really thick and stiff but of a really good quality. They did their homework on the glue they used and I never had any issues with it lifting.

I would think that you would use the aquaseal with the cotol accelerator. Its a mcnett product that im pretty sure is the standard for drysuit seal glue. That dive shop was prolly just trying to scare you into having them do it. Most seals are either latex or silicone and this glue works on both. I used it on mine and it works well. Its best if you can put some kind of form in there while you are doing the repair, like a plastic cup for the wrist seals. The finish the job off with a strip of the rubber seam tape and it wont leak and looks decent. I think there is a few you tube vids on the swap as well.

I've used that on wetsuits. Don't remember how I tore it but it's a few years ago and is still just fine. I bet the cup helps a lot. Mine was a tear that I repaired and the glue dried with a real rough finish. I was able to sand it smooth though and don't notice it at all now

The trick is making a proper jig to get a good fit. Probably something on YouTube . Aqua seal is what you use.... it is a pain in the a$$

Yup aqua seal worked great! And finding the correct size bottle for the seals was the only hard part. Once I found the right objectes by taking seals to Walmart and fitting them over 20 different round items I settled on glass mason Jars for the booties and plastic squirt bottles for the wrist. Thankfully the neck was already done. It only took 15mins to apply the glue and roll the seals up. Easy as can be.
